5. Manual Steering Racks
Lastly, we have manual steering racks. These are the most basic type of steering racks. They don’t have any power – assisted system. You rely solely on your own muscle power to turn the steering wheel and move the wheels of the vehicle.
Manual steering racks are very simple and reliable. There are no complex hydraulic or electric components to worry about. They’re also lightweight and relatively inexpensive.
But the big downside is that they require a lot of physical effort, especially at low speeds or when you’re trying to turn the wheels when the vehicle is stationary. That’s why they’re not very common in modern cars anymore, but you might still find them in some older vehicles or in certain specialized applications like some off – road vehicles where simplicity is key.
